Seal the Paint Luxury Kitchen Cabinets

Jun 19th

Luxury kitchen cabinets – Painting your kitchen cabinets can save you a lot of money over replacing the cabinets. The paint may peel, crack or stain if exposed to moisture or cooking fat, which are common elements in most kitchens. In addition to protecting the paint, a layer of polyurethane provides a smooth surface of your cabinets, so you can easily wipe away any food spills or splashes without scrubbing.

Wait until the paint on your luxury kitchen cabinets to dry completely, which can take several days. If the paint still feels gummy or sticky, it is not yet ready to seal.  Wipe all the painted surfaces clean with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or dust. If your cabinets have grease splatters, moisten the cloth with vinegar and gently rub the cabinet to remove fat. Let the cabinets dry after you have finished cleaning. Paint one coat of oil-based polyurethane on kitchen cabinets with a paint roller or brush.

Allow the polyurethane to dry for at least eight hours or overnight. Moisten the dry, sealed luxury kitchen cabinets easily with water from a spray bottle. Sand your kitchen cabinets with an additional fine or fine sanding sponge until the surface feels smooth to the touch. Wipe cabinets with a clean towel to remove all the water. Wait about two weeks for polyurethane to heal on your kitchen cabinets. Apply a dime-sized amount of paste wax to a clean cloth and gently rub the wax on your kitchen cabinets. Buff two appliances with a clean cloth to give them a little shine.
